On this blog we spend a lot of time thinking about social media - why use it, how to use it, which platform is most appropriate for business and so on - and presenting news and what others think about it in our weekly round-ups. It seems that already this year there has been lots of noise about social media, and particularly its growing importance for business marketing. Having spent some time last week looking at how another sector - universities - is expanding its reach via social media and how that might reinvigorate and renew how we think about using it, we thought it would be good to ask you what you think about social media, and how you use it. So, this week we will start off a kind of temperature test for social media use among our readers, with the aim of gathering information about what people are using and what they think of it and the results it gets. We will use the results to focus the kind of information about this area of online marketing that we share on the blog in the future.

Do you see social media as an important part of your business strategy?
What Social Media platform do you use for business?
Which is the easiest to use?
Which is the most effective for business use?

Have you had direct results from using social media platforms for business?
There are other things we want to ask about social media, which we will return to next week, but for now we are hoping your answers to the questions above will give us an idea of what people are using, and what you find most effective.

If you have any further comments to add which qualify your responses to any of the questions, we would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below, send us a tweet or leave a message on our facebook page.
